They move forward packed tight, disciplined by fear, convinced that silence is a natural rule, like gravity or collective cowardice. They demand that Thröl shut up, because the fact that he is still speaking reminds them that they gave up. At the center, the house is still standing, one window lit like a simple, brutal refusal.
