(FR) Ciel propre, route propre… et pourtant le run garde cette odeur de “ça aurait pu être mieux, mais évidemment non”. Top 50 %. Position 11 sur 21 - le purgatoire statistique, l’endroit où les pilotes pas assez bons pour briller croisent ceux pas assez mauvais pour s’écraser. Pas de médaille, ça évite au moins d’avoir à faire semblant d’être fier. Cinq minutes et trois secondes de glisse disciplinée, coupée par ces vingt petites secondes de retard qui grincent comme une porte qu’on a juré réparer depuis trois saisons. La Peugeot 208 Rally4 2020 fait ce qu’elle peut : elle mord, elle tire, elle braille… mais ça reste une Rally4, ça sert le café mais ça ne remue pas le ciel. Bref : un run propre, sans drame, sans miracle. J'ai touché la moitié haute du classement, ce qui est toujours mieux que de fertiliser le bas-côté, mais pas assez pour que quelqu’un prenne un selfie avec mon chrono. Position 11 out of 21 - statistical purgatory, the place where drivers not good enough to shine cross paths with those not bad enough to crash. No medal, at least it avoids having to pretend to be proud. Five minutes and three seconds of disciplined sliding, cut by those twenty little seconds of delay that creak like a door you’ve sworn to fix for three seasons. The Peugeot 208 Rally4 2020 does what it can: it bites, it pulls, it screams… but it’s still a Rally4, it serves the coffee but it doesn’t shake the sky. In short: a clean run, without drama, without miracle. I hit the upper half of the ranking, which is always better than fertilizing the roadside, but not enough for anyone to take a selfie with my time. Thröl Haartkor Mk V – I aimed for the moon, I hit a lamppost. Classic.

Kalēti. Another patch of Latvia pretending to be a rally. The terrain is DRY, and so is the will to live. Everything’s dry – except the palms. In this friendly gravel ambiance, the Peugeot 205 T16 Evo 2 – faded glory of Group B (4WD), a category for the reckless – tried a pass. The clock? 2:41.251. The gap? +22.698 seconds, basically a coffee break for the front runners. Position: 247 out of 747, Top 35%. Nice score, if the goal was to avoid disturbing the podium at all costs. This run didn’t shine, didn’t prove anything, didn’t transcend. It happened, that’s all. Kalēti got driven, like a limp cigarette. And the ranking? A cardboard medal, shame optional. Krote, Latvia. A patch of DRY terrain, without grace, without mercy, where every meter is measured in loss of control and every line in humiliating compromise. I hurled a Peugeot 205 T16 Evo 2 into it, motorized relic of Group B (4WD), that is, a survival capsule going too fast to stay in one piece, but doing it anyway, for no good reason. The clock stopped at 2:34.407, with 18.075 seconds behind the day’s most suicidal performer. Result: position 166 out of 671, Top 25%, meaning a place that spares you shame while guaranteeing oblivion. Krote took everything: rubber, focus, lucidity. Me? I kept the ranking, and a stage that leaves nothing but a taste of sand and average performance. Thröl Haartkor Mk IV – The top quarter of the pack is still just the pack. Nothing more.

Cērpi, Latvia. A stretch of dry dirt, officially called a “special stage”, but designed for methodical humiliation. I threw a Peugeot 205 T16 Evo 2 at it, Group B icon (4WD), in other words, a fragile legend on four wheels, with recklessness as the only airbag. Official time: 2:03.026, that’s +14.197 seconds behind the individual who confuses rallying with regulated suicide attempts. Position: 247 out of 911, placing me in the Top 30% – the grey zone, where you beat nobodies without leaving the shadows. Every corner was a question without answer. Every straight, a promise not kept. And in the end? A ranking that prints itself, without memory, without shine. Thröl Haartkor Mk IV – Oblivion is a finish line. I crossed it.
